Caring for Houseplants

I have been living in my apartment for almost four years, and despite at least a dozen attempts to keep a houseplant in my windowsill, every single plant has died within a month. I don’t know if it’s me, or if the water in my building is the equivalent of a Jim Jones Kool-aid spritzer for plantlife, but it's just not working.

After listening to me complain about my new lavender plant’s pre-destined fate, my mom pointed me to this Today Show segment on how to keep houseplants alive. Although I usually find morning show segments both awkward and ridiculous, this one was at the very least helpful.

Oh, and if we’re going to give the whole houseplant thing a go, let’s ditch the plastic containers, please.
