As much as I love "status labels" there is certainly something to be said for accessibility, and that's just one reason why I love J.Crew -- It's pretty much my uniform. The other great thing about J.Crew is that it never seems to be mimicking something else -- just a beautiful, straight-forward aesthetic that I find really appealing. I was browsing the Web site today, and thought I'd share some of my favorite items for spring and summer.
The temperature is supposed to drop in the low teens tonight, so I'm reveling in the escapism provided by J.Crew sundresses and beach cover-ups. Last summer I lived in a dress much like the one above. It was just perfect for everything I wanted to do, from shopping to going out at night. It's not the most exotic or inspired dress, but it will make you look fabulous and take the guesswork out of putting together an outfit. I also love the "Perfect shirt" and beach cover-up.
I loathe cover-ups that look like you are, in fact, trying to hide something (even if you really are). The beach-cloth cover up above, is perfectly tailored and chic. Another great cover-up option is the "perfect shirt." I've always wanted to achieve the whole "My family has a cottage on Cape Cod where I summer for the months before I return to my exclusive boarding school" look. Props to J.Crew for making this fakery possible for $78.
Finally my absolute favorite thing about J.Crew is their costume jewelry. I wish more of it was limited edition, so it wasn't super apparent that I didn't miraculously pick these pieces up at a quaint flea market, but they make me so happy, I don't even care if I look like I walked out of a storefront.
