What's up with Urban Outfitters?

Lately, I've noticed a big change in the home decor offerings at Urban Outfitters. I distinctly remember a time when their premier offerings wouldn't (and shouldn't) have been seen anywhere outside of a college dorm room. However, in the past year or two, it seems they've started to move away from ugly/bland kitsch into some genuinely cool, attractive and affordable designs. Some of my favorite picks below:

MicroTerrarium, $.99-$6

I love adding fresh-cut flowers to any spot I spend time in, whether it's at the office or in my windowless galley kitchen. Unfortunately, flowers don't come cheap and I've been looking for a more affordable solution. I think this adorable micro-terrarium could be the answer I've been looking for. It costs about the same as a "metro station" bouquet, will last much longer, and requires no upkeep. (FYI, some of the options at UO come as cheap as 99 cents.)

It seems like Urban Outfitters has been collaborating with artists more frequently. An example of this is this clever "HOME" pillow from Chris Rubino, inspired by the famous LOVE sculpture by Robert Indiana.

Ikat Slipper Chair, $325

Ok, ok, I know I said I was over ikat, but for a cash-strapped young professional, this slipper chair could add a really nice graphic punch to any room.

Jet Set Storage Bench, $240

I love this metallic storage bench! I think it would look so pretty at the foot of a well-tailored bed, and it provides a nice spot to store extra blankets, sheets and pillows. Very luxe.
