Congrats to Founding Farmers and CORE DC

On April 22, one my of my favorite new restaurants, Founding Farmers will become the first LEED Certified restaurant in the District of Columbia. LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a rating system for designing and constructing the world’s greenest, most energy efficient, high performing buildings and interior spaces.

The restaurant was designed by one of DC's most innovative architecture firms CORE DC. By the way, Founding Farmers not only features fabulous, sustainable design --the food is seriously yummy. My one quibble -- you can't order a soda! Yeah, I know mass-produced sugar water isn't exactly the most environmentally friendly beverage, but I can't have fried chicken without a diet coke. The fake sugar absorbs the grease, right? Well, it should!
