Ok friends, I admit it's been a while since I worked on this little project of mine, but I'm back! Because I don't have any nifty layout software, or buckets of money that would give me a spare room and the ability to buy all of these pieces, you're going to have to bear with me and use your imagination. To help you along, let's pretend that am using the same layout as the room in my
inspiration post.

Let's start with the:
Walls and FloorsWhether you're going for "Traditional American" or "Greek Island", you can't go wrong with classic Blue and White. I'd go with Benjamin Moore's Simply White on the walls (which is a warmer, less grey white). To shake it up a bit, I'd love to paint wood floors with Ralph Lauren's "Spinnaker" from his island brights collection, and top it with a super-high gloss finish. In my head, I imagine it would look something like floating on a deep blue sea -- but with furniture.

Speaking of furniture, let's talk about:
Furniture and Lighting
I loved the vintage look of this
bed from Sundance, and the small seashell detailing gave it just enough seaside flair. I'd primarily dress it with white linens, and top it with this
coverlet from Viva Terra.

To add a modern, "I just threw this all together" element, I'd place this
West Elm parson's cube nightable to the left of the bed and top it with the
Lago Lamp from Crate and Barrel, and a tiny arrangement (no more than two blooms) of red geraniums.

Now let's keep moving to the left side of the room and imagine a single, large window in the center of the wall. I'd probably just install a neutral roman shade and some gauzy white curtain panels. Under the window, I'd place this adorable yellow and gold
suzani bench from Viva Terra to give a pop of color, and add some pattern to the left side of the room.

To the right of the bed, I'd place the
"Ancient Languages" rug from Anthropologie. I'm not 100% sure this would work -- the amount of blue on the floor could be overwhelming-- but I definitely think its worth a try. I love this rug!

Of course, every good guest room should have a reading light, so I'd place this
sconce from Circa Lighting on the wall behind the right side of the bed. As for the reading material? I'd place a bunch of magazines and books in this
West African Winnowing Basket from Sundance, directly to the right of the headboard, under the sconce.

On the right-side wall I'd place this vintage
Chinese Butcher's Table from Wisteria which I think gives the room heft and a nice rustic vibe.

Finally, I'd top the table with this beautiful
Greek Candelabra from Wisteria, which is just big enough to stand up to the scale of the table. Bonus points: it's a replica of a real Greek candelabra dating back to 2,000 B.C.:

So there you have it; my best attempt at styling an "unstyled" room. In the next installment: Art and Details!
