Jeffrey Bilhuber: Defining Luxury

"I love luxury. I am convinced that luxury is part of what makes us human, that it brings beauty and pleasure...it is inspiration and aspiration, something taught, something learned--an evolving appreciation of good, better, best." (Jeffrey Bilhuber)

I can't figure out how people can limit themselves to one favorite designer. Every time I think I've found "the one" I discover another talent whose work perfectly encapsulates my aesthetic. I will say that two of my enduring favorites are Celerie Kemble and Kelly Wearstler, but I'm ready to endorse a new favorite: Jeffrey Bilhuber. Although Bilhuber's book Defining Luxury was released a while back, I put off picking it up until I saw a recent spread of his work in the March issue of House Beautiful that I just adored.

Although the book is light on the "how-to," the photos alone give you an education in composition and scale, not to mention that I could hardly flip a page without jotting down a decorating idea or something new to add to my ever-expanding apartment wish list.
